The topic of sexuality in art history can be approached in a variety of ways but perhaps the most valuable one (in terms of a foundational topic for a survey art history lecture) is the convention of female nudity in art. It serves as a sort of mirror forcing us to confront the way society has confounded our bodily relations. It reminds us that the human body can be both beautiful and grotesque, innocent and sexualized, free and controlled, and it forces us to consider where our own beliefs fall in these spectrums.

In our exhibition, we are going to trace this convention through the history of art, enabling you to cover issues of sexuality, gender, and power with your mind. Join us on this journey of discovery, emancipation, and, most importantly, reclamation of the self.

Sex arouses the body, nature enriches the soul, and art inspires the mind. Artists make it visible.
